Extensive IMU art collection includes MLK portrait

The IU campuses observed Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Jan. 20, and events to commemorate Black History Month may be accessed at online campus events calendars throughout February. This painting of King, by South African artist Ashley Ward, is located on the wall west of the Tudor Room at the Indiana Memorial Union in Bloomington. The IMU is home to a remarkable collection of art and antiques numbering more than 1,200 pieces, and an initiative launched by the IUB chancellor to increase multicultural artistic expression (see article) on the Bloomington campus was announced last week. Directions for a walking tour of the IMU are available at the director’s office on the mezzanine.
