| A free symposium at IUPUI in April will spotlight the new media industry and an opportunity to interact with world-class professionals in special effects, animation and other new media industries.
“Interface Symposium 2003, Celebrating Storytelling, Communication and Computer Artistry” will be held Friday and Saturday, April 4 and 5, on the IUPUI campus. Sessions, featuring practitioners and executives from prominent national and regional new media industries, will take place at Cavanaugh Hall, Lecture Hall and University Library.
Participants will have the chance to meet industry professionals during workshops and programs highlighting advanced techniques in special effects, conceptual illustration and interactive design and animation.
The symposium’s presenters will draw on their experiences with Industrial Light and Magic, Sony Entertainment, Nickelodeon Digital, Cartoon Network, DC Comics, Marvel Entertainment Group and Walt Disney. Speakers will be showcased in individual presentations on the symposium’s second day, which culminates in a panel discussion. The symposium will provide access to industry portals, mentors and possible employers.
The event, co-chaired by Durwin Talon and Dan Baldwin of the IU School of Informatics, is open to the general public free of charge. For registration and additional information, call Jeff Hostetler at 317-278-4113.
