Pomp, circumstance and some surprises
IU Home Pages photographer Paul Martens was on the commencement circuit earlier this month, accompanying the platform party on its mission to award 13,489 new IU degrees on the eight university campuses. Take a look at Martens' photo essay and read (and hear) Ken Gros Louis present his last graduating class to IU President Myles Brand at the 172nd IU Bloomington commencement May 5. Gros Louis will retire July 1 as IU vice president for academic affairs and chancellor of the Bloomington campus.
