The American Democracy Project includes campus climate as a contributing factor in increasing civic engagement. Visits by campaigning candidates and events promoting voter turnout are common campus staples during election years, creating an environment conducive to political discussions.

Other voter awareness activities: IPFW was a partner in DebateWatch 2004, the voter education program of the Commission on Presidential Debates, and IU Southeast hosted a gubernatorial debate Oct. 17, which was produced by WTIU for both live broadcast and rebroadcast throughout the state.
