Forséns in Bloomington next week

IU Bloomington will host two scholars visiting through the first Schrader Archaeological Endowment Lectureship in Classical Archaeology. The two are classical archaeologist Jeannette Forsén and historian Björn Forsén. On the schedule:

• Jeannette Forsén will speak on “Archaeological and Geological Methods: A Case Study from the Greek Early Bronze Age,” at a noon brown bag discussion on Wednesday, Nov. 1, Patton Conference Room S201, Geology Building. She will be introducing the South Aegean Volcanic Arc database and web site.  At 4 p.m. at the same location, the two will be discussing their surface surveys in the Asea Valley, Arcadia, Greece, and Thesprotia, Epirus, Greece, followed by a reception. 

• On Thursday, Nov. 2, at 6:15 p.m., the two will present an Horizons of Knowledge lecture in the Maple Room of the Indiana Memorial Union. Their title: “Archaeology Meets History: The Excavation of an Archaic Sanctuary in Arcadia”
