A Welcome from the
Vice Provost

Welcome to the Office of Enrollment Management (OEM) website. Thank you for taking time to visit and explore our site. The goal of OEM is to recruit, admit, award, orient, enroll, and serve a well-qualified class and to serve the broader IU academic community through collaborative and innovative work. As you begin to review the material presented here, I would like to draw your attention to the 2011 Annual Report, which we have published in the full length version only online. In reviewing this year's report, I believe you will see the results of our team's dedication and hard work, and I hope that you will also learn more about the activities, services, and programs that OEM staff members provide for potential and current students, staff, faculty, and alumni every day. I am very proud of each member of our team as they work to contribute to our educational enterprise, each in his or her own personal and unique way.

As I know you are aware, over the past few years, there have been a number of challenges within higher education. The economic downturn, the increased competition for the best and brightest students, and continuing concerns about affordability and access have all been topics of conversation within the IU community, with prospective students and their families, and throughout the state, country, and globe.

To address these challenges and concerns, IU is meeting them head on. To borrow a few words from President Michael A. McRobbie, as presented in "The Principles of Excellence," IU is to "attract academically outstanding, promising students from diverse and under-represented backgrounds throughout Indiana, the nation, and the world," and we are also to "ensure that an IU education remains geographically, programmatically, and financially accessible to all qualified students." It is our united effort in OEM to support these principles.

Additionally, we seek to partner beyond OEM to strategically and collaboratively be personal, proactive, precise, professional, and progressive in our efforts to meet the demands of today's competitive higher education landscape. We embrace the challenges ahead and we look forward to providing productive solutions to these challenges.
