MOCLI VISION STATEMENT

The Men of Color Leadership Institute (MOCLI) promotes African American, Asian American, Latino and Native American men by empowering them with the skills and knowledge needed to foster academic success; establish a support network; support the goal of graduation; and improve personal achievement by influencing leadership through representing unity and a commitment to collective betterment of humankind.

MOCLI Mission Statement

As men of color with a shared purpose, our aim is to educate, develop and support each other for the betterment of our communities.

Objectives:

  • Heighten the awareness of the resources available to men of color at IU and the Bloomington community.
  • Gain a deeper understanding of the issues and concerns that confront men of color.
  • Enhance and develop men of color into responsible and accountable students.
  • Identify appropriate intervention strategies to assist in the academic, social, and moral success of men of color on this campus.
  • To provide a forum for men of color who would aspire to be leaders.
  • To encourage strategic initiatives and activities such as forums, retreats, summits, for undergraduate men of color.
  • To connect men of color to faculty and staff of color for the purpose of gaining mentoring, guidance, and direction.
  • Support university goals of promoting undergraduate retention and graduation rates.
  • Pursue avenues to the process, awareness, and application of research.
