Dr. Pat Richard, O.D. contacted me in May of 2006 seeking to fill a position at Richard & Armstrong Optometry. I accepted the position and have been trained to support every area of the practice. On various days I will conduct pre-testing and other special testing for patients. I acquire health history, ocular history, check visual acuities, intraocular pressures, fundus photos, visual fields, topography, blood pressure and OCT testing. In the front office I am able to file vision and medical claims, manage the schedule and much more. On other days in the office you will find me doing frame selections, educating patients about lens choices and options, informing them of their insurance coverage and dispensing glasses. I have also been trained to run the lensometer, spot block, and run the edger to cut lenses for frames.
1999-2002 Office Coordinator, Midwest Eye Institute Greenwood, IN.
Successfully helped open a 5,000 square foot satellite office in Greenwood for 8 ophthalmology specialty practices. I was responsible for all daily administrative management of the entire office. Implemented new procedures and developed a number of ideas to better support the clinic needs of the various practices. Interfaced with building management regarding facility issues, maintained phones, computers, and medical equipment. Assisted in insurance coverage and maintained usage records and billing for the same. Filing, e-mail/voicemail, drug inventory, medical supply management, OSHA compliance management were also a part of my duties. Trained by various physicians to assist in exams (retina, ocular plastics and pediatric specialties). I would often work as a technician if short staffed.
