Fall Orientation and Transition Program

During orientation, you will take your academic placement tests (Math and Foreign Language are required), meet with your advisor, and register for classes. You will not be permitted to register for first-semester classes until you have completed the program. Once you check in, you will begin the processes of testing, advising, and registration that will take 2 days to complete. Please plan accordingly.

  • Your first day will include information sessions about life at IU, a group advising session, and placement / credit testing. You will be finished around 6 pm.
  • The second day of your program will be spent on general orientation tasks including academic advising, registering for classes, and getting your student ID card. Your schedule on this day is personalized and will take from three to four hours to complete.
  • Welcome Week (for all new students) runs from Wednesday, August 27, through Monday, September 1st.
  • Fall semester classes begin on Tuesday, September 2nd.
