Course Equivalency Lists for IU Study Abroad Programs

The following course equivalency lists are to be used as a guide when determining what type of equivalencies a student will receive for coursework taken abroad on an IU-administered or Co-sponsored academic year or semester program. These lists are updated approximately twice a year and are subject to change. Please see the individual course equivalency lists for more detailed instructions about course availability, selection, and minimum enrollment. Students participating on IU programs are guaranteed to receive at least 100-level elective credit (XXX-OS 100) toward their degrees. Any specific equivalencies that appear in the equivalency lists have been evaluated and approved for all students by that particular department. Overseas Study maintains these lists to better advise students on what type of credit student may expect to receive for their coursework taken abroad on IU programs.

When students are accepted to an IU program, they are sent an email outlining the advising and course selection process for their time abroad. Please see the instructions for the post-acceptance advising process at http://www.indiana.edu/~overseas/forms/advising.shtml.

Minimum course loads and enrollment requirements may vary by program. General guidelines can be found in Summary of Academic Policies and Procedures at http://www.indiana.edu/~overseas/policies/policies.shtml.

If you have questions about the course equivalency lists or the advising process, please contact Steven Rose, Assistant Director of Overseas Study, 812-855-7588, rosestm@indiana.edu.
