IU SCHOLARSHIPS AND LOANS
The scholarships, grants, subsidized and unsubsidized loans that you receive from Student Financial Assistance for study at IU may be used to pay for study abroad. You may also be eligible for more loans for your period abroad.
- All IU scholarships, loans, grants and fee courtesies (except work-study and music performance-based scholarships) may be applied to IU-administered programs.
- IU scholarships, grants and loans applicable to
co-sponsored program costs with some
exceptions. Please
carefully check these exceptions before you commit to a program.
FINANCIAL AID AND NON-IU PROGRAMS
IU scholarships, grants and loans may be applicable to
Non-IU program costs with some
exceptions. Please
carefully check these exceptions before you commit to a program. IU financial aid may be applied only if 1) you are enrolled for full-time
study while abroad; 2) you have a GPA of at least 2.5; AND 3) if your courses will be accepted as transfer
credit toward your degree requirements (major, minor, distributional or
required electives). See below, for information on national scholarships and other sources of financial assistance.
IUB HUTTON HONORS COLLEGE IEP GRANTS (not restricted to Hutton Honors College students)
Edward L. Hutton International Experiences Program (IEP) grants are made on a competitive basis. Any IUB student with a 3.4 GPA overall or 3.7 GPA in major may apply.
Award can support participation in a study abroad program for summer, semester or year.
KELLEY SCHOOL OF BUSINESS OVERSEAS STUDY SCHOLARSHIPS
Scholarships are available to participants on IU-administered and co-sponsored business programs.
Awards will range from $1,000-1,500 (semester) and $500-750 (summer). Apply online by the program deadline.
IUB DEPARTMENTAL SCHOLARSHIPS
Apply for the following scholarships through the sponsoring department or school.
OTHER MINORITY SCHOLARSHIPS
- The Indiana University Minority Overseas Study Support Fund offers need-based scholarships to qualified undergraduate minority students from any IU
campus who are accepted to participate in IU-administered study abroad programs. Scholarships range from $200 to $3000. You must apply online by your program deadline.
- The scholarships, grants, subsidized and unsubsidized loans that you might receive from Student Financial Assistance for study at IU may be used to pay for study abroad. You may also be eligible for additional loans for your period abroad.
- Robert E. Bailey III Minority Student Scholarships (www.ciee.org/study/scholarships.aspy#bailey), available through
the Council on International Education Exchange, for students on CIEE study abroad programs.
- IES Abroad Diversity Scholarships of up to $5,000 (www.iesabroad.org/IES/Scholarships_and_Aid/Diversity_Scholarships/diversityAid.html) available for students participating in IES programs.
NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS
Unless a website is noted, applications for these competitive scholarships are available in the Office of Overseas Study
OTHER SOURCES OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
- Check with your church, synagogue or service organizations for
possible scholarship funding.
- Consult the various scholarship books in the Information
Center, although it is unusual for
students to acquire funding through agencies listed there.
