Transcript and Grade Information
IU programs
You should not expect grades for at least two to three months after the end of the program. At the conclusion of the
program, the program administration will report to IU the courses titles and grades. Our office will process your credits
and will submit them to the Registrar.
If your courses are already equated to IU course numbers on your record, then ONESTART will categorize the courses as if
they were taken on campus. If you took courses to satisfy general requirements (even undistributed ones -OS 100, -OS 300),
the Office of Overseas Study will have notified your school already.
If you received undistributed credit, (-OS 100) but hope to have those courses counted in your major or minor
and/or at an advanced level, you need to take materials from the course abroad (syllabus,
reading list, papers, etc.) to
your department advisor. The advisor will refer you to the appropriate person to have the course assessed and that
individual should complete a Course Approval form through our web site.
Non-IU programs
You should be sure that your program has sent an official transcript to:
Office of International Admissions Indiana University 300 N. Jordan Ave. Bloomington, IN 47405 USA
Transfer credits are awarded only for courses in which a grade of "C" or better is earned. (C- earns no credit.)
If you wish for undistributed courses, (-UN 100, -UN 300) to count towards general education requirements, check with
your school about the appropriate petition process. In the COLL there are forms available in Kirkwood 012 so you can petition
for a course to count as AH, SH or culture studies. Follow those instructions.
Students from other schools
should see their advisor or contact Overseas Study regarding the petition process in their school.
If you wish for undistributed courses to count towards your major or minor and/or at an advanced level, you need to
take materials from the course abroad (syllabus, reading list, papers, etc.) to that department. An advisor will refer
you to the appropriate person to have the course assessed and that individual should complete a Course Approval form
through our web site. All transfer credit is subject to final approval by the Dean of the School in which you are
enrolled.
If you took the courses for elective credit (i.e. hours towards graduation), you can leave them as undistributed
(-UN 100, -UN 300).
