Australia Exchange Scholarships
Indiana state residents (in-state students) with demonstrated financial need and academic merit are eligible to apply for an Australia exchange scholarship, which provides a reduced tuition rate for the Overseas Study programs in Adelaide, Canberra, Perth or Wollongong. Receiving an Australia exchange scholarship allows students to pay reduced-rate tuition (comparable to in-state tuition fees at IU Bloomington) directly to Indiana University instead of the Australian universities. The number of scholarships is limited and the selection process for scholarships is competitive since we are not able to award scholarships to all applicants.
ESTIMATED SPRING 2009 COSTS
For in-state Indiana residents awarded an exchange scholarship:
- Fees paid to IU (tuition, fees): $5,025
- Average room and board paid to the Australian University: $4,500*
- See IU Fee Sheet for additional cost and payment details.
*Room and board fees are not billed through the IU Bursar. Students are required to pay room and board fees directly to the Australian university. Amount varies slightly by program.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE
Applications for the Australia exchange scholarships should be submitted by the program application deadline. To access the Australia exchange scholarship, see http://www.indiana.edu/~overseas/applications/australia.shtml#add.
The scholarship application requires students to select their first-choice of the Overseas Study programs in Adelaide, Canberra, Perth or Wollongong, Australia. Students can also identify whether they would like to be considered for exchange scholarships at other Overseas Study programs in Australia if they are not offered an exchange scholarship for their first-choice program.
