- 6 IU graduate credits; 8 IU undergraduate credits
- Intensive language study at the advanced (third-year) level
- Extensive cultural exposure through afternoon and evening activities and
weekend trips to near-by historic sites
- 4-8 students per class
HOUSING

- Homestays with Azerbaijani families arranged by AUL
ELIGIBILITY
You may apply if you
are a student
- at any American or foreign university who is making normal academic
progress;
- in at least your 7th full semester of undergraduate study;
-
with two full years of formal study of Azerbaijani; OR
- who is a native
speaker of Turkish; OR
- with two full years of formal study of Turkish
If your background includes one or the other of the final two possibilities
listed above, you must agree to enroll in a special "bridge" course at the AUL
for two weeks prior to the commencement of the advanced Azerbaijani program.
This course will provide a transition from Turkish to Azerbaijani based on the
closeness of the two languages.
Complete eligibility criteria and selection criteria are outlined within the Academic Policies and Procedures
of the Office of Overseas Study.
Selection is based on maturity, seriousness of purpose,
and appropriateness of match between program and applicant. Students on disciplinary during program period are not eligible.
ESTIMATED 2008 COSTS
- IU fees (payment due May 10)
- Undergraduate students: $448.40
- Graduate students: $391.80
- Azerbaijani visa: $130 (approx.)
- International Travel: approximately $2,500 (student makes own arrangements)
- Local Accommodations: $200/ month for 2.5 months = $500 (set up by AUL)

Meals and Local Transportation: $500/ month for 2.5 months = $1,200 (organized
with AUL)
- Total: $4,778.40 (undergrad)/ $4,721.80 (grad)
Personal expenses are additional.
FINANCIAL AID
- FLAS and other funding opportunities should be sought through a student's
home institution. FLASes in particular have early deadlines for
application, generally February 1.
- Special financial assistance to offset some of the cost of travel, lodging, and food may become available for those who register before March 1. If it does, the information will be posted here. Please check back at a later date.

IU committee screens applications and makes recommendations to the Director
of IAUNRC and the Chair of CEUS. Electronic notification of application status sent within four weeks of application deadline.
