PROGRAM ORGANIZATION
ACADEMIC PROGRAM
- 5-day orientation session in Puerto Plata and PUCMM, Santiago
- 15 IU credits
- Program core course: Contemporary Dominican Republic: Political and
Socioeconomic Processes for CIEE students only
- Spanish language courses
- Caribbean and Latin American area studies courses in Spanish for CIEE students only
- Community Services Internship (with course)

- Minimum of one direct-enrollment course at PUCMM

ADDITIONAL PROGRAM INFORMATION
ELIGIBILITY
You may apply if you
- are a student at any Indiana University campus who is making normal
academic progress,
- are in at least your third full-time semester of college,
- are in at least fourth-semester Spanish, and
- have approximately a 2.75 cumulative GPA.
Complete eligibility criteria and selection criteria are outlined within the Academic Policies and Procedures
of the Office of Overseas Study.
Selection is based on maturity, seriousness of purpose,
and appropriateness of match between program and applicant. Students on disciplinary
probation during program period are not eligible.
ESTIMATED FALL 2008 COSTS
- IU portion of fee: $650
- CIEE portion of fee: $9,215*
(includes tuition, housing, meals, medical insurance, field trips)
Initial prepayment of $500 due Oct. 29 for spring; April 7 for fall.
Airfare, other meals, personal expenses and vacation travel additional.
*Special discounted CIEE fee for IU students.

- IU scholarships, grants and loans applicable to program costs with some
exceptions. Please

IU committee screens applications; final approval from CIEE. Notification of application status sent
electronically within
four weeks of application deadline.
