ACADEMIC PROGRAM
- "Irish General Studies" Program**
- Instruction by Irish professors
- 6 IU credits for any 2 courses:
- Contemporary Irish Drama (ENG-L 369) AH
- Europe's Tiger Economy (ECON-E 309) SH
- History of Ireland: 1798-1922 (HIST-B 300) SH, CS-B
- Irish Literature in the Last 100 Years: Identity, Selfhood and the State (ENG-OS 100*) AH
- Northern Irish Troubles: 1969-1999 (POLS-Y 362 or HIST-OS 100*) SH
- Writing on the Wall (CMCL-OS 300 or ENG-OS 100*)
- Theater visits, city tours, optional field trip to County Clare and scenic Cliffs of Moher
* -OS 100 (-OS 300) is the default designation to identify overseas study recorded as 100-level (300-level)
undistributed credit that can count in total hours toward graduation and may be able to satisfy major, minor,
or distributional requirements with the approval of participant’s school or the department

HOUSING
- Apartments located in various residential areas of central Dublin. Apartments are shared by four to 10 U.S. students and are fully furnished, including a computer with subsidized Internet access and kitchen facilities.
ADDITIONAL PROGRAM INFORMATION
ELIGIBILITY
You may apply if you
- are a degree candidate at any Indiana University campus who is making
normal academic progress,
- are in at least your third full-time semester of college
- are academically prepared for courses available on this program (primarily 300-level social sciences and humanities courses), and
- have an overall cumulative GPA of
approximately 3.0
Complete eligibility criteria and selection criteria are outlined within the Academic Policies and Procedures
of the Office of Overseas Study.
Selection is based on maturity, seriousness of purpose,
and appropriateness of match between program and applicant.
Students on disciplinary probation during program period are not eligible.
ESTIMATED 2009 COSTS
- IU portion of fee: $370
- IES portion of fee: $6,195 (academic fees, housing, orientation, field trip, health insurance)
- Meals: $670
- International airfare: $900

Initial prepayment of $500 due early March.
