PROGRAM ORGANIZATION
- 12-15 IU students
- Program Schedule:
- Introductory lectures and preproduction activities May 6 to 10 in Bloomington
- May 15-30 in Tokyo and Kyoto, Japan
- Reconvene in Bloomington for two weeks of editing June 2-16

- Program led by IU Professor of Telecommunications Ron Osgood
ACADEMIC PROGRAM
- Producing International Documentaries
- 3 IU credits (TEL-T 436, Advanced Production Workshop)
- After one week of introductory lectures, discussion, preproduction activities, and orientation,
class will depart for Japan.
- In Japan, class will meet daily with an intensive schedule of lectures, field trips and video shooting experiences.
- Development and production of short non-fiction stories; hands-on production
while in Japan
- Opportunities to work with Japanese students

ELIGIBILITY
You may apply if you
- are an IU degree candidate who is making normal academic progress,
- are in at least your second full-time semester of college,
- are willing to live and travel with a group, and
- EITHER
have completed T283 and one additional 300-level production course (T351, T353, T356)
- OR
have completed the equivalent of two semesters of Japanese language and have an interest in Japanese culture,
- and have approximately a 2.75 cumulative GPA.
Complete eligibility criteria and selection criteria are outlined within the
Academic Policies and Procedures
of the Office of Overseas Study. Selection is based on maturity,
seriousness of purpose, and appropriateness of match between program and applicant. Students
on disciplinary probation during program are not eligible.

Program costs for Indiana University undergraduate students have been reduced through a grant from
the Edward L. Hutton
Foundation.

- IU scholarships, grants and loans applicable to program costs, only if you are enrolled in 6 credits in IU summer sessions, with some exceptions. Please carefully check these exceptions before you commit to a program.
