ACADEMIC PROGRAM
- IES Madrid program*
- Orientation and intensive Spanish
- Field trips and cultural activities
- 25 courses in language, humanities, and
social sciences taught in Spanish for IES students only
- University of
Madrid course with Spanish students (spring only)
- Optional unpaid internship in public or private organization

COURSE LOAD
- Fall program requires enrollment in Spanish language course and IES center courses
- 16 IU credits
- 4 credit language course
- 12 credits in 4 IES courses
- Spring program requires enrollment in Spanish language course and a
combination of IES center courses AND either a university course or internship
- 16 IU credits
in combination of 4 IES courses and a 3-credit internship
OR
- 16 IU credits in combination of 4 IES courses and a 3-credit University of Madrid course

ADDITIONAL PROGRAM INFORMATION
ELIGIBILITY
You may apply if you
- are a student at any IU campus who is making normal academic
progress,
- are in at least your fourth full-time semester of college,
- have taken or are enrolled in at least fourth semester Spanish (for
fall) or fifth semester (for Spring), and
- have approximately a 3.0 cumulative GPA.
Complete eligibility criteria and selection criteria are outlined within the Academic Policies and Procedures
of the Office of Overseas Study.
Selection is based on maturity, seriousness of purpose,
and appropriateness of match between program and applicant.
Students on disciplinary probation during program period are not eligible.
ESTIMATED FALL 2009 COSTS
- Fee paid to IU: $650
- Fee paid to IES by IU students: $15,200*
(tuition, health insurance, room and some meals)
- Other meals: $2,050
Initial prepayment of $500 due April 6 for fall 2009; Nov. for spring 2010.

* Special Discounted IES fee for IU students

exceptions. Please
