University of Madrid courses with Spanish students
35 one-semester courses in humanities and social sciences taught in
Spanish for 200 U.S. studentsFall Semester (15 credits total)
- 3-credit orientation course in Spanish language and culture (U.S. students)(Sept.)
- 9 credits in Reunidas courses (Oct.-Jan.)
- 3 credits in University of Madrid course (Oct.-Jan.)
Spring Semester (15 credits total)
- 9 credits in Reunidas courses (Feb.-June)
- 6 credits in a University of Madrid course (Feb.-June)

ADDITIONAL PROGRAM INFORMATION
ELIGIBILITY
You may apply if you
- are a student at any Indiana University campus who is
making normal academic progress,
- are in at least your fourth full-time semester of college (or fifth semester for spring semester applicants),
- have taken or are enrolled in at least fifth semester Spanish (for
academic year applicants) or sixth semester Spanish (for spring applicants), and
- have approximately a 3.0 cumulative GPA.
Note for academic year applicants: Enrollment in HISP-S411 during the spring semester is
strongly recommended
Complete eligibility criteria and selection criteria are outlined within the Academic Policies and Procedures
of the Office of Overseas Study.
Selection is based on maturity, seriousness of purpose,
and appropriateness of match between program and applicant.
Students on disciplinary probation during program period are not eligible.
ESTIMATED COSTS
Semester Spring 2010
- Fees paid to IU: (tuition, health insurance, excursions, four weeks' housing, some meals)
- Indiana resident: $5,676
- Non-resident: $11,352
- Rent & meals: $4,800 - $7,500

Academic Year 2009-10
- Fees paid to IU: (tuition, insurance, excursions, 2 weeks' housing, some meals in September)
- Indiana resident: $9,460
- Non-resident: $18,920
- Rent & meals: $8,150-$10,500

Initial prepayment of $500 due Nov. 2 for spring, Mar. 2 for academic year.
Airfare, personal expenses and vacation travel additional. Please
note that payment for the optional group flight for the spring program will be
due to the travel agent (not IU) by October 2009.

Required language test for academic year applicants: January 23, 2010.
Required interview for applicants within three to four weeks of application deadline (further instructions will be provided). Notification of application status sent electronicaly within two weeks of interview.
