- Nanzan University's Center for Japanese Studies
- 115 international students (4-6 from IU)
ACADEMIC PROGRAM
- 14-17 credits per semester
- Intensive Japanese courses (8 IU credits per semester)
- More than 20 Japanese area studies courses taught in
English and Japanese (6-9 credits for 2-3 courses each semester)

ELIGIBILITY
You may apply if by January you
- are a student at any Indiana University campus who is making normal
academic progress,
- are in at least your fourth full-time semester of college,
- are in at least fourth-semester Japanese, and
- have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA.
Complete eligibility criteria and selection criteria are outlined within the Academic Policies and Procedures
of the Office of Overseas Study.
Selection is based on maturity, seriousness of purpose,
and appropriateness of match between program and applicant.
Students on disciplinary probation during program period are not eligible.
ESTIMATED COSTS
Fall Semester 2009
- Fees paid to IU: (tuition, housing, security deposit, insurance, orientation)
- Indiana resident: $8,730
- Non-resident: $14,424
- Additional meals (lunches): $700

Academic Year 2009-10
- Fees paid to IU: (tuition, housing, security deposit, insurance, orientation)
- Indiana resident: $15,896
- Non-resident: $24,657
- Additional meals (lunches): $1,500

Initial prepayment of $500 due Mar. 2 for fall or academic year.
*Based on exchange rate of 89 yen to the U.S. dollar.
Airfare, all personal expenses and vacation travel additional.
FINANCIAL AID
- IU scholarships, grants and loans applicable to program costs.
- Overseas Study Scholarship and Minority Scholarships of $750-$3,000
awarded on the basis of financial need and academic merit.
- $1,250 Kaoru Ando Memorial Scholarships for academic year participants only
- Possible full Japanese government scholarship (AIEJ) awarded on a
competitive basis.

APPLICATION DEADLINE

Required interview for academic year applicants within three to four weeks of application deadline (further instructions will be provided). Notification of application status sent electronically within two weeks of interview.
IU committee screens applications; final approval from Nanzan.
