DATES
PROGRAM ORGANIZATION

- 10-16 IU students
ACADEMIC PROGRAM
- 6 IU credits in "Photography and Video in Japan: Exploring the Past and
Present" (FINA-S 491, FINA-D 417, or FINA-U 539); See syllabus.
- Supplemental instruction on Japanese language and culture
- Excursions to historical and cultural sites in Kyoto, Nara, Hiroshima, and Tokyo
ELIGIBILITY
You may apply if you
- are an undergraduate or graduate student at Indiana University who is making normal academic progress,
- are in at least your second full-time semester of college,
- have
approximately a 3.0 cumulative GPA, and
- have taken FINA-S 291: Fundamentals of Photography, or FINA-D 317: Video Art, or approved equivalent with
permission of instructor
Applicants must submit ten original photographic works OR three videos. Each piece should be clearly labeled with title, year, semester, and class during which the work is produced. Works can be submitted as original prints or JPG files on CD-ROM, or video DVDs. Submit one letter from a faculty member who is familiar with your plan to participate in the Overseas Program and its overall contribution to your academic objectives..
Complete eligibility criteria and selection criteria are outlined within the Academic Policies and Procedures
of the Office of Overseas Study.
Selection is based on maturity, seriousness of purpose, and appropriateness of match
between program and applicant.
Students on disciplinary probation during the program period are not eligible.

Program costs for Indiana University students have been reduced through a grant from the Edward L. Hutton Foundation.
