credit by exploring educational opportunities throughout the world.
The Office of Overseas Study

Facilitates the IU study abroad experiences of over 1,800 students
on all eight Indiana University campuses,
- Offers
a variety of exceptional programs chosen or developed to maintain
IU's high academic standards,
- Fosters
opportunities for international and cross-cultural experience,
- Gives
more than $75,000 in need and merit-based scholarships annually
and works to ensure programs remain affordable, and
- Provides
guidance to help students integrate study abroad into their academic
plans and graduate on time.
Mission Statement
The mission of the
Office of Overseas Study is to promote study abroad by Indiana University
students through participation in quality programs in a wide range of disciplines.
The purpose is to enhance international awareness and understanding and enrich
curricula on every campus of the university, as well as to expand educational
opportunities abroad for students from diverse backgrounds.
As the most effective and dramatic experience by which students can achieve
international and intercultural learning, study abroad will contribute
significantly to careers in all fields of specialization and should be an
integral part of undergraduate education at Indiana University.
