IU students awarded Gilman Scholarships
January 8, 2008Michelle Jochim and Hana Ros, two Indiana University
juniors from the Bloomington campus, were recently awarded Benjamin A. Gilman
International Scholarships to pursue studies overseas. Jochim, a
psychology major who will be studying in Prague, Czech Republic, received an
award of $5,000. Ros, an International Studies and Political Science
double-major, received an award of $4,000 which will go towards her studies in
Lima, Peru.
For the spring semester application cycle, the Gilman scholarship program received
1,369 applications and awarded
400 scholarships.
The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship program is sponsored by the
U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and
administered by the Institute of International Education. Online applications
are available for the fall 2008/ academic year 2008-2009 cycle of the Gilman scholarship, and the deadline is April
