Office of Overseas Study Statement
Response to the Outbreak of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS)
Indiana University officials in the Office of Overseas Study and the Kelley School of Business are monitoring the SARS virus situation in Hong Kong closely. We are in regular contact with counterparts at the City University of Hong Kong, our partner institution. We have strongly recommended that our students currently studying in Hong Kong make arrangements to return to the United States at the earliest opportunity. We will work with faculty and administrators at the City University to ensure that these students can complete courses in which they are enrolled.
Students have been advised in accordance with the precautions advised by the Department of Health of the Hong Kong SAR Government, the CDC, WHO, and the US Department of State (web sites listed below).
We have also been in contact with two Indiana University students currently studying in China on programs administered by other institutions. We have advised them to keep informed about the outbreak and recommended precautionary measures.
The IUPUI School of Law has cancelled its summer program in Beijing.
