Strikes in France
The Office of Overseas Study has been in close touch with the sites in
France where IU students are currently studying abroad on IU
administered or co-sponsored programs. The program administrators have
assured us that the students have not been endangered by the recent
transport and labor union strike activity that has been prominent in the
larger cities. Students have been cautioned to keep a low profile and
not to attend any demonstrations. In the small number of cases where
strike activity has resulted in cancelled classes, the programs are each
ensuring that students will be able to complete the semester abroad in a
number of ways, (depending on the site these might entail special
tutorials, independent study, privately hired faculty, etc.).
We will continue to monitor the situation on a daily basis and will
update this statement accordingly.
