According to University records, there is one IU student in India at this time.
He is in Delhi, has been in touch with IU officials, is safe, and will complete the semester there.
Due to the unstable situation in that part of the world, Indiana University officials are
urging individuals to postpone plans to travel to India in the coming weeks.
A delegation of IU administrators last week postponed an upcoming trip to various sites
in India to explore institutional linkages. IUE has postponed a short-term program in
Bangalore that was scheduled for later this month. IUB’s Kelley School of Business
has withdrawn a proposal for an alternative spring break program that would have taken IU
students to India in March.
The Office of Overseas Study will follow the situation very carefully and, should
decisions need to be made about proceeding with programs in India in 2009, would convene
the Indiana University Overseas Study Advisory Council’s Committee on Safety and
Responsibility. For more information, see: www.indiana.edu/~overseas/policies/warnings.shtml.
