Selecting a Program in Australia
Australian universities accept short-term study abroad students who
attend classes alongside
Australian students. Although an IU student may in theory apply directly
to Australian universities, Overseas Study suggests the following options:
1) IU co-sponsored program to Adelaide,
Canberra,
Perth,
Sydney
(Business Only), or
Wollongong:
- Tuition and fees paid directly to Australian university*
- IU fee for maintaining IU status and services
- Continued enrollment at IU while abroad
- Academic advising
- Direct IU credit
- Most scholarships and loans apply
- Predeparture orientation at IU
*Except in the case of exchange awards, which are limited and carry IU tuition based on good academic record, demonstrated financial need and a strong academic rationale for studying in Australia.
2) Direct application to an Australian university directly or through another U.S. institution (e.g.,
Arcadia University or IFSA-Butler University):
- Fees paid to university or agency
- Financial aid applicable only if credits count toward degree requirements
- Continued enrollment at IU while abroad through special "0"-credit course
- Transfer credit
- Predeparture Orientation at IU
