The Office of the Vice President for International Affairs (OVPIA) administers a range of grant programs and exchange opportunities to support tenured or tenure-track faculty and librarians in teaching, research, and outreach activities that involve an international dimension. Nine grant programs are available, each with their own international focus. Also included at this site is information on two Faculty Fulbright competitions for which the OVPIA plays an advisory and/or managerial role in the application process. The final selection and funding for Fulbrights are determined by external agencies. The Office of the Vice President for International Affairs (OVPIA) administers a range of grant programs and exchange opportunities to support IU student research and learning with an international focus. OVPIA grant programs for students are grants which are funded by the Office of the Vice President for International Affairs from Indiana University funds. External student competitions managed by OVPIA are competitions whose application processes for IU faculty are managed by the OVPIA but for which final selection and funding is determined by an external agency.
The John W. Ryan Award for Distinguished Contributions to International Programs and Studies honors Indiana University faculty members for exceptional contributions to the University’s international programs and studies.
Awards: Recipients of this award will be recognized at the Founder’s Day ceremony with a certificate and an award of $1,000 to be provided by the IU Foundation. Two awards are given each year within the IU system.
