Centro de investigaciones y Estudios Superiores (CIESAS) is one of Mexico's leading research institutes in the field of Social Anthropology with 150 researchers in 7 locations. The largest office is in Mexico City.
Program Orientation
Opportunity for independent research at one of seven CIESAS locations for one semester. 1 position is open to IU graduate students.
Academic Program
- CIESAS leads research in Social Anthropology, History, Ethno-history and Linguistics.
- Strong Spanish language proficiency required.
- Spanish language courses are not included under the exchange.
Housing
Housing is provided.
Eligibility
You may apply if you
- Are a graduate student at any Indiana University campus who is making normal academic progress
- Have a clear research agenda or course of study that can be accommodated by CIESAS
- Have high Spanish language proficiency

Financial Support
- OVPIA provides funds for the cost of round-trip airfare and will provide the student with insurance coverage for the time of their stay.
- CIESAS provides housing and a living stipend.
