IU Conference and Workshop Grants

Support for IU departments or faculty to conduct symposia, conferences, workshops, and roundtables at IU. The event should bring people together to explore international topics in new ways, to discuss vigorous new directions in international research, or to explore scientific topics with international colleagues.

Funding: Maximum $2,500, depending on scope and participation

John W. Ryan Award

The John W. Ryan Award for Distinguished Contributions to International Programs and Studies honors Indiana University faculty members for exceptional contributions to the University's international programs and studies.

Funding: Recipients of this award will be recognized at the Founder's Day ceremony with a certificate and an award of $1,000 to be provided by the IU Foundation. Up to two awards are given each year within the IU system.

Language Learning Grants

Support for IU faculty to acquire new language capability necessary for carrying out a planned research activity or to enhance teaching, or engage in other university-related activities. Grants may be awarded for intensive language programs in the US or abroad, special tutorials, or regularly offered language courses.

Funding: Maximum $2,500

Deadlines: Applications will be accepted when these opportunities arise.

Overseas Conference Fund Grants

Partial support for faculty to attend an international conference to present a competitively selected paper.

Funding: Maximum $1,000 in awards per 24-month period.

Short-Term Faculty Exchange Programs

Each year OVPIA recruits faculty members and librarians for short-term (maximum of one month) assignments at a number of partner institutions abroad during the calendar year.

Funding: Round-trip airfare, housing, living stipend
