Mark S. Bruhn
Associate Vice President, Information & Infrastructure Assurance

Mark Bruhn provides executive leadership for activities related to appropriate deployment, handling, and security of institutional and personal data and systems, and for plans and procedures for recovery and resumption of systems and business processes. He also advises and makes recommendations to the Indiana University President and other executives on physical security of facilities, safety of individuals, and general emergency preparedness and planning. He has broad knowledge of university academic and administrative operations, and interacts and coordinates with a wide variety of university departments, officers, and administrators. He also serves IU as associate director (Operations and Practices) of the IU Center for Applied Cybersecurity Research (CACR), http://cacr.iu.edu. Bruhn was instrumental in establishing in 2002 the IU-based Research and Educational Networking Information Sharing and Analysis Center (REN-ISAC), and serves as its executive director. He is also an adjunct faculty member in the Indiana University School of Informatics and contributes to student education in cybersecurity through guest lectures and course development. Previously, Bruhn served IU as Associate Vice President for Telecommunications and as Chief IT Security and Policy Officer. He has also served in the United States Air Force, where he was a non-commissioned officer in charge of Air Defense Operations. Bruhn has a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Park College, Missouri, and an Associate of Science degree from the Community College of the Air Force. He also holds two security management-related professional certifications - Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)).
