Notes:
Treatment planning for advanced therapies such as proton therapy require extensive interaction between the referring physician, medical physicists and technicians. One example is a system for remote consultation and treatment planning in conventional radiation therapy under development at John Hopkins. Another approach, involving shared virtual (VR) spaces, shown schematically above with happy faces representing the collaborating radiation oncologist and medical physicist is being developed for the proton therapy center at Indiana University.
