We hope to see a variety of types of research posters, including those that present:
• Research you are doing in a lab on campus
• Key findings from a research paper you wrote for a class
• Conclusions you have drawn based on a literature review
• A draft of your dissertation proposal
• Your plan for an upcoming research project, or results from a past research project
Even if your research is not 'finished' present what you have so far! Team presentations are welcome!

Keynote Speech: What's Next? Who Knows? Be Prepared
Prof. Fentiman will discuss what you can be doing now to prepare for a successful, rewarding career – or series of careers. (Very few people have just one career these days.) Topics include professional development opportunities, becoming aware of the influence non-technical people can have on science policy and your career, and building, maintaining, and exercising professional networks. Dr. Fentiman also wants to spend time responding questions from the audience.

How to Make a Research Poster Workshop
When: Wednesday, February 15, 2012 from 5:00-6:30 and Tuesday, February 21, 2012 from 5:00-6:30
Where: Memorial Hall East (on 3rd St) 1st Floor Lounge (by room 125)
Come learn how to make a poster to showcase your research. We will discuss effective poster-design techniques and show a number of example research posters from different disciplines. We will also discuss effective oral presentation strategies. If possible, please bring your abstract, data, charts, photos, graphs and anything else you might want your poster to emphasize or highlight. Workshop participants will have the opportunity to ask questions to experienced poster presenters and get personalized feedback on poster designs. While we hope that many WIS Research Conference presenters will attend this workshop, all students are welcome to attend, regardless of whether or not you are presenting at the conference. Both male and female students are welcome!
Please RSVP at the link below by February 11, if you plan to attend the poster workshop: REGISTER
