This is Dr. Alexander's 11th year at IU as a faculty member in the Department of Counseling and Educational Psychology. Joyce specializes in research dealing with learning, cognition, and instruction and has taught courses on a variety of related subjects including motivation, children's thinking, effective college teaching, and applied cognition and learning strategies. Dr. Alexander's current National Science Foundation supported research involves examining the growth of information in a domain and learning strategies in young high-knowledge children.

Throughout the course, I encourage you to talk with me anytime you have a question, idea, problem, or concern. I should normally be able to respond to email within 48 hours, often sooner. Phone calls are welcome; I am not always in my office, but I have voice mail, so you can leave a message and I'll return your call.
