Dalton holds a Bachelor of Science in Telecommunications and a Master of Science in Information and Communication Sciences from Ball State University.
Dalton has been involved in grassroots media for many years, teaching workshops and judging film festivals in Rapid City, SD, Palatine, IL, Richmond,IN and Indianapolis and two festivals in the United Kingdom. He has served as a Media Grants Advisory Panelist for the Indiana Arts Commission.
Dalton has presented at the Symposium for the Marketing of Higher Education, the American Marketing Association, the Noel-Levitz National Conference on Student Recruitment, Marketing, and Retention, the Indiana Fundraising Day, AFP Indiana, at the eduWeb. He's also presented at CASE V, CASE Indiana, Blog Indiana, SummitUp in Dayton, OH, and at the Indiana Press Association Conference in Bloomington, IN. He was the co-chair of the communications/web track for the CASE V Conference in 2011 and will be again in 2013.
Dalton’s team has won numerous local ADDY's and regional Pride of CASE V awards. They have also been awarded a regional Pinnacle Award, several national Educational Advertising Awards, a national Telly Award, and an international CASE Circle of Excellence Award. In 2009 iue.edu was named Noteworthy Site of the Month by eduStyle and in 2010 Dalton’s team won the People’s Choice Award for Best Integration of Social/Networking at the eduStyle Awards during the eduWeb Conference.
