Reforming School Discipline: Zero Tolerance, Suspension, Expulsion, and Alternatives

Schools have a responsibility both to maintain safety and to maximize student learning. This module is a guide to developing effective discipline systems to maximize both those goals. How can zero tolerance be used effectively and with a minimum of harm when it has to be used? What are effective alternatives that can enable schools to improve school climate and minimize the use of suspension and expulsion?
