Admissions
The Admission Committee considers applications for admission to the Ph.D. Graduate Program beginning in mid-December. At that time, financial aid is considered for both new applicants and continuing students. The deadline for application materials for domestic applicants is December 15 and for international applicants is December 1.
U.S. domestic residents (including those educated abroad) submit a domestic application to the Department of Philosophy. The deadline for applications is December 15. International students submit a special International Application for Admission, along with transcripts, reference letters, GRE scores, and TOEFL scores with the Office of International Admissions by December 1. International student applicants may send sample papers and statements of purpose directly to the Department. Please direct all inquiries to Marge Clark (clarkma@indiana.edu).
Since the Admission Committee exists for only a short time during the spring semester, it does not consider applications at other times during the year.
We do not accept applications to our M.A. Program, with the exception of those currently enrolled in another graduate program at Indiana University Bloomington who wish to obtain the M.A. in Philosophy. We do award M.A. degrees to those of our Ph.D. students who qualify for them and apply.
