New officers assume roles
|
The chapter's leadership assumed responsibility on April 13. New officers include:

Little 500 Team finishes fifth
|
After qualifying in third position for this year's Little 500, Phi Psi team rode the entire race as a serious contender, often leading the race. It finished in fifth, with the Cutters winning the race; Major Taylor, 2nd; Dodds House, 3rd; and ATO,4th.
About eight teams were within one second of each other until about the last 20 laps. See a feature story on this year's team from the IDS' special edition.

Indiana Beta named Chapter of the Year
|
The Indiana University chapter of Phi Kappa Psi was named IFC Chapter of the Year at the Greek Awards banquet this fall. Award winners were based on ratings by peers.
Other awards were: Presidents of the Year - Bobby McDonald (SNu)/Brad Eckmann (Sigma Pi); Alumnus of the Year - Phil Summers (Pi Kapps); - New Member of the Year - Cale O'Bryan (SigEp); Excellence in Brotherhood - Sigma Nu; Greek Little 5 Champion - Phi Kappa Psi; Athletic Achievement - Delta Upsilon; Highest GPA - Beta Theta Pi; Most Improved GPA - Theta Chi.

Former GP named to Phi Beta Kappa
|
David Charles Weller, '04, is among the 153 Indiana University students who have been inducted into Phi Beta Kappa this year.
Election to Phi Beta Kappa is the highest honor that can be conferred on an undergraduate in the liberal arts and sciences. Founded in 1776, it is the oldest and most prestigious academic honor society in the United States.
Brother Weller served as GP (chapter president) two years ago.

Al Somers receives Clevenger Award
|
Al Somers, In B’60, an Olympic swimmer, received a Clevenger Award this fall at a half-time ceremony during the football season.
The Clevenger Award is presented annually to living I-Men who continue to show dedication and service to IU’s athletic program as alumni. The award is named for former IU coach and athletic director Zora G. Clevenger and is the highest award that the I-Men’s Association presents.
Somers retired from his neurology practice in Bloomington in 2006. He and his wife, Kitch, are parents of three daughters.
