Phonetics & Phonology Lab

at Indiana University
banner-image

Located on the sixth floor in Ballantine Hall, the Phonetics & Phonology Lab at Indiana University (affectionately referred to as the PhonLab) is one of the research facilities operated by the Department of Linguistics. The focus in this lab is on acoustic analyses, perception studies, and corpus-based study of phonotactic frequency and probability. We also work with 3D ultrasound imaging of tongue morphology during speech production, in collaboration with Dr. Steven Lulich's Speech Production Laboratory. We provide technology, resources, and collaborative assistance to facilitate and enhance research at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
