General Information
This division is responsible for custodial services, recycling, moving and set-ups, and other building services. Our goal is to always provide a pleasantly clean, safe and attractive environment for our customers and for campus vistors.
Sustainability
Our Building Services Division supports the "sustainability" initiatives of Indiana University by using a variety of "green" cleaning procedures and products in completing our mission.

Services
Emergencies
Contact your Building Rep and he/she can call our office at 855-3121, or the appropriate parties, for assistance. We have staff in your area with radios who can respond quickly for an actual emergency.
Urgent Cleaning Needs
If you do have cleaning issues that need immediate attention, please don't hesitate to contact your Building Representative and he/she can call our office. We will have our day custodian assist you within minutes.
Recycling
We provide pickup and delivery of about 2,000 tons of recycling materials annually. Items recycled from IU facilities are: white paper, mixed colors, newsprint, magazines, beverage cans, plastic bottles, cardboard, and household batteries. For more information, visit our recycling page.
Cleaning
On a daily basis we provide the public areas in buildings with the following tasks: remove trash; spot mop floors; vacuum carpets; clean chalkboards, trays and erasers in classrooms; clean glass in common areas; change light bulbs; clean restrooms; clean drinking fountains; pick up litter around buildings. We clean the stairwells on an as-needed basis.
Three times per week reception areas are cleaned.
Once every week we service office space: trash removal; sweeping, dust furniture, ledges and vents; mop floors; spot wash walls and doors; clean telephones.
Biannually we vacuum upholstered furniture and clean carpets.
On an annual basis we: scrub, wax and buff floors; wash exterior windows and venetian blinds.
Please note: We never clean computers or computer-related equipment.

Pest Control
For pest control services in academic buildings, contact our office at 855-3121.
Repairs
Public areas are maintained by other divisions of Physical Plant. Any needed repairs in hallways, stairways, restrooms, classrooms, etc., should be brought to the attention of the Custodial Supervisor or Building Representative. For repairs in departmental space, you should also contact your respective Building Manager or departmental representative.
Security & Safety
Lock and unlock buildings, check security on all doors during cleaning rounds, provide an official presence in buildings during the evening and late night to discourage theft and vandalism. Notice in advance when building hours change is appreciated.
