Mark Menefee, P.E. 820 N. Walnut Grove General InformationThe Utilities Division is responsible for all the utilities on campus. With electricity, steam, heating, air conditioning, water, sewage, we serve total of over 15 million square feet of building space. We also provide careful documentation, metering, and locating services. Special Note about Campus LightingThe Utilities Division maintains the streetlamps on campus. If you notice an IU streetlamp is out, please report it to Jim Bayne at 856-4788 or by email at jbayne@indiana.edu. Thank you for your help in keeping IU safe. ServicesUtility Information GroupThe Utilities Information Group (UIG) is the central clearinghouse for information about utilities on IU campuses. The UIG locates, maps and documents utilities and issues excavation permits for IU campuses. We also conduct meter readings, storm water management and water conservation efforts.
Water Conservation The water conservation project in the UIG focuses on educating people at IU about the Leak Line number, 855-3740, which can be called to report a leak, and on monitoring water use on campus. Utility Data Display This summer the Utilities Information Group and the Sustainability Task Force are working together to create a real-time display of meter readings for the various utilities and meters on campus. For information on the Sustainability Task force, go to the website: https://www.indiana.edu/~sustain/ Storm Water Management IU received permits to manage storm water in April 2005. Storm water is now monitored and managed on IU campuses. Storm water management in the UIG consists of locating and replacing old frames, filters and catch basins in campus drains. Steam Heating
