Population Institute for Research and Training (PIRT)
PIRT was established in 1986 as an interdisciplinary center for faculty and students interested in population studies. Our primary function is to promote and support the study of demography at IU. To that end, PIRT provides training courses in population analysis and demographic methods, facilities and personnel for funded research projects, and assistance to faculty and students who are seeking information, data, or funding opportunities in population research.
George Alter, Professor Emeritus, ended his term as Director of PIRT and activities have been suspended during academic year 2007-2008 while the institute is reviewed. If you have questions or concerns, please contact Teena Freeman (Administrative Coordinator at 812-855-5631) or Scott Long (Associate Vice Provost for Research at 812-855-0516).
