Assassins is a musical that explores and exposes the dark side of the American Dream. David Richards of the New York Times said, "watching Assassins is like receiving a death notice in the form of a singing telegram." On the surface the show is about a group of people who committed political murders; nine presidential assassins who have been commonly viewed as madmen, and ultimately un-American freaks.
