Scientists and Subjects

The online forum

Overview

Starting in 2008, the Scientists and Subjects Online Seminar (SASOS) will use a forum within an online environment called Oncourse Collaboration and Learning (Oncourse CL, or just Oncourse). There may be unexpected challenges associated with this change, which means that patience with technical difficulties is essential for the 2008 SASOS cohort.

You can access Oncourse at https://oncourse.iu.edu. On every Oncourse page, you can click on this help icon ? for context-sensitive help.

You can find a good deal of information about Oncourse at http://kb.iu.edu/data/armv.html. The following items should help you get started.

Trying the forum

The SASOS practice forum is called SAS Sandbox.

If you already have an Indiana University computing account but you are not familiar with the Forums tool in Oncourse CL, log in to Oncourse and join the SAS Sandbox to try it out.

If you do not have an Indiana University computing account, please follow these steps.

  1. Create an IU Guest Account.
  2. Send me an e-mail message so I can add you to the SAS Sandbox. I will add you to the site as soon as I am able.
  3. When you receive an e-mail confirmation that you've been added to the SAS Sandbox, log in to Oncourse CL and select the SAS Sandbox tab in the red area across the top of the screen.
  4. Select the Forums tool from the menubar on the left side of the screen and you will be ready to experiment.
