Indiana University

Inauguration of the President, Michael A. McRobbie

18th Presidential Inauguration

The Procession

Marshals will line up and lead delegates, faculty, and the platform party from the robing areas to the Indiana University Auditorium for the ceremony.

The procession from Wildermuth will begin at 2:40. If the weather is good, the procession will circle Showalter Fountain and proceed through the front doors of the Auditorium. If it rains, we will make other provisions.

The presidents of Indiana institutions will be first in line, right after the marshals. The remaining delegates will proceed in order of the founding date of their institutions or societies.

All academic deans of Indiana University will process in next, and then the faculty.

The platform party will enter the Auditorium last and go directly to the stage.

At the close of the ceremony, all participants will be led back to the robing areas. All rented apparel must be returned at this time.

Everyone is invited to return to Showalter Fountain in front of the IU Auditorium for a celebratory reception in honor of Dr. McRobbie.

Inaugural Activities

The inauguration is one of the cornerstone events of Celebrate IU, a week of special activities that includes Homecoming, the dedication of Simon Hall, and special colloquia and exhibits on all campuses. Special events include a performance by pianist André Watts and the IU Philharmonic Orchestra at 8:00 p.m. More information >>
