The GWF site is at the Indiana University Research and Teaching Preserve's Griffy Woods Property.
This site is centered around a wide flat floodplain through which several branches of a stream flow. The floodplain is bounded by steep slopes on the east and west sides. This site is contains steep ridges with a fairly wide, flat floodplain in the valley.
A large portion of the floodplain area (dotted blue) is invaded by Japanese stiltgrass. Stiltgrass is believed to have invaded the site around 2005-2006. This site floods seasonallybut floodwaters recede rapidly. A 100-year flood occurred at this site in June 2008. The site was surveyed in August.
