The MCF site is on the Indiana University Research and Teaching Preserve's Moores Creek Property.
This site is on the edge of Lake Monroe, a 10,000+ acre dammed lake in Monroe County, Indiana. The site experiences annual spring flooding during which stiltgrass debris and seeds can be deposited at the site. The floodplain area (dotted blue) on the map indicates the extent of water at maximum lake depth.
There is a "bathtub ring" around much of the lake perimeter where stiltgrass seeds have been deposited by flooding and which provides a continual seed source. The initial invasion at this site is believed to have occurred around 2004-2005. A small creek runs through the center of the site to the lake and is surrounded on both sides by steep slopes. The invaded areas are largely flat or along the gravel road that leads to the site.
