Attack of the Alien Invaders!
Fourteen people were guided by IU RTP Director Keith Clay on a 1-mile walk around downtown Bloomington. Participants learned about common invasive plants such as Tree of Heaven, Bush Honeysuckle, Winter Creeper, and Japanese Knotweed that are invading city alleyways and backyards. Bob Baird wrote a story about the walking workshop that appeared in the Bloomington Herald-Times on October 25, 2008. If you have a subscription to the newspaper, you can read the story at www.heraldtimesonline.com/stories/2008/10/25/homes.nw-121328.sto?1225911053. In follow up, "Landscape the Local Way: A Workshop on Native and Invasive Plants" is scheduled for Saturday, April 18, 2009. Return to News & Events page. |
