Check the online Facilities Reservation Calendar for availability.
Contact the IU Research and Teaching Preserve (RTP) staff of intent to use the Field Lab by completing the Facilities Reservation Form. Please submit the form AT LEAST ONE WEEK IN ADVANCE. This gives staff time to notify the groundskeeper when to expect visitors and to ensure no conflicts occur.
Please submit either a Teaching Activity Survey or a Research Activity Survey when you use the Field Lab for an activity for the first time.
Arrange times to pick up and return Field Lab building key at the RTP office in Multidisciplinary Sciences Building II (MSB II) Room 134 at 702 N. Walnut Grove Ave.
Access the Field Lab from the IU Foundation parking lot (park at the northeast corner near paved drive through golf course). The IU Foundation is located in the Showalter House on 1500 North State Road 45/46 Bypass on the northeast side of Bloomington, Indiana.

Utilize green transportation:
  • Bring your own bicycle or walk from the IU Foundation (approximately 0.75 mile, 10-minute walk).
  • Minimize traffic across golf course and be respectful of golfers (stop while golfers are teeing off and putting). Park cars in the IU Foundation lot and carpool back to the Field Lab. If more than one vehicle is needed to transport group members, you may wish to take one vehicle to the Field Lab and borrow the golf carts to shuttle the remaining participants. Electric-powered golf carts (each cart seats four people) are parked in Field Lab garage; keys are in the carts. The carts, however, are not very fast, so this may not be an option for those on a tight schedule.
Leaving the Field Lab:
  • Clean up and return furniture to original configuration.
  • Return golf carts to garage and leave cart keys in the carts.
  • Lock Field Lab door(s).
  • Return key to MSB II 134.

IU RTP staff members are available to explain history of the IU Research and Teaching Preserve and to give tours of the Field Lab and preserve properties.
