Flora and Fauna
Some examples of plants and animals found on the preserve
sites are illustrated here. While the habitats represented
at the IURTP are not unique or distinctly different
from surrounding areas, they often support a variety
of notable or rare species such as the Bald Eagle, Indiana
Bat, Timber Rattlesnake, the Trailing Arbutus -- the
official flower of Indiana University, and endangered
Orchids. The Flora and Fauna Lists are all a work in
progress. If you have spotted other species of plants,
or would like to assist us in developing and expanding
upon these lists, please email
the Preserve. Class leaders and independent researchers
should contact the preserve office if they are interested
in volunteering or doing a project of that could assist
us in our ongoing research to learn more about the Flora
& Fauna of the Preserve. Species lists are in progress
and are not complete!
